Venus and Others Square Pluto - April 26, 2010

Today continues with another in a list of planets again squaring Pluto, and as a consequence the time to accept changes in our consciousness is upon us. We may need change in those areas we least favor, such as fear, doubt, dis-ease, disenfranchisement, worry or any lack relating to the self.  When Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn (since April 20th and now through May 3rd), we need to be extremely vigilant about how we proceed to bring new experiences, new relationships or other new things into our lives.  Whatever we start may take unexpected and challenging twists and turns before it really feels right, justified and compassionate.  Along with a greater sense of doubting ourselves now, we may feel reluctance or resistance to try out new relationships or new ways of being.  Certainly, please be careful and cautious about your finances,  seemingly hopeful economic prospects or ventures, and adventures which appear too tantalizing to believe.  This is not the time to experiment, unless you have the backing of all interested and believing partners or related groups.

While Jupiter in Aries was squaring Pluto in Capricorn (from the middle of January 2011 until the end of March 2011) as well as Mars squaring Pluto (from the beginning of April until April 20th, 2011), also Mercury (from March 10th through March 17th, 2011), and through the continuing Uranus square Pluto, we have witnessed precarious starts, sidetracks or setbacks in our economic situations, possibly difficulties in our relationships, a lack of a sense of security about now and the future, and  some feelings of futility in what we are doing as not being exactly right for us. Waves of disappointment, anger,  mistrust, jealously and futility about how to manage change have met us in areas where transformation has to happen.  I do not intend to sound overly grim about these times; however, it's appropriate now to be realistic about our need to change what isn't working or hasn't for quite a while.  Whatever is old or unused in our "closet of the self" needs our prompt examination and those images, confidences, trials or difficulties we have encountered lately have to be moved away from, thrown away and forgiven.  Whatever avenue dries up, Spirit will open up two more in its place.

In the search for a new job or career, search in new, novel ways, replace the old by widening your prospects in new fields. Reinvent your job by finding how you can apply your skills  differently to open employers' eyes in new ways.  For example, your teaching or counseling career may fit the general field of research, technical writing, editing or publishing.  Or be adventuresome and open with your creativity by applying for positions in the arts, or maybe become a supervisor in an unrelated area.  Try painting , sculpting or crocheting and create your own line to market. Now see yourself doing this new job: visualize as well as deeply feel yourself creating that unique opportunity outside your normal field of expertise.  Change takes courage as well as strength, and you deserve to have that feeling of succeeding in all that you choose to accomplish.

Perhaps, the greatest avenues open to you now are those in your inner life.  Sit quietly in a comfortable place, and surround yourself with supporting and loving energy. Now visualize what would create more happiness, joy and security in your life. Is it more friends, a better sense of self, more security and self confidence, a new pet, the time and ways to be more creative? Next, whatever comes to mind, note and record it in writing, in drawing or by taping. Do this two other times when you have the space over the next week. Do not share your findings with anyone else until you have completed these three sessions, and are confident that what surfaces is for you alone. Allow your inner child  and your inner artist to be a part of this experience. Feel fresh, renewed, invigorated and supported from the inside outward. You'll be amazed at what occurs for you that can transform your way of accomplishing  things when you start by allowing your inner self a voice. When it feels right, try one of your new ideas and experience how freeing it can feel. What we value and what grounds us comes from our searching within.

With all this Aries' fire energy affecting Capricorn's earth element is it any wonder why for months now we have felt this way.  At times distracted and defeated, and we wonder how can we ever change what seems challenging now.  When we summon our strength and inner wisdom, everything seems possible again. The energy lightens, and the new opens and prospers. We explore new adventure and are offered new opportunities, those which seem to have previously been unreachable and unattainable until now.

Use the energy and wisdom of IV The Emperor in the tarot cards to guide you with more certainty, conviction and strength in what you pursue and accomplish during these times. He is the master of manifestation and will help you gain the energy and determination to come through these times with something to show for it!

Blessings and success on your journeys, Tom

Jupiter Clashes with Pluto on Feb. 25,2011

Jupiter squares Pluto this Friday, Feb. 25 (1:40 PM mst), the last of three such difficult energies since last summer, activating possible spirited conflict, political dissension, governmental and ideological upheavals, the resurgence of severe conditions or treatment of others, international turmoils and continued weather anomalies. Jupiter as the harbinger of optimism, opportunities, faith, spirituality and long-journeying is being challenged and tested. Just look at the world news and you'll see that since July/August of 2010,  there has been a wave of these national and international stirrings in government and the private sector, with citizens demanding better economic conditions and more say in the way they are governed. If there's an underhanded, devious and malicious play of emotions and actions, then the Pluto signature has surfaced with the outcome being a potentially positive transformation things that up until now have not been fully realized or acknowledged in the global community.  Now the challenge is to air any grievances, missteps or injustices, and seek to find solutions. Whether in your own home, community, state or in other nations, these times and circumstances are part of the collective, affecting us all on some level, and certainly demanding creative solutions in order to bring peace and new directions for all who have sadly not had a say or have been dis-empowered from charting their own destinies.

For example, this is the time to extend yourself, even energetically, to influence a better outcome for others, even if you don't personally know them. At home, your job or in your community resolve to be the change, be the compassionate one who takes the initiative, since everyone has a part to play. Pisces energies come to the rescue and offer a look at the big picture; what affects all peoples, as well as the greater possibility of resolving these old difficulties and injustices among world communities. With the personal planets of Mars, the Sun, Mercury and Chiron in the sign of the Fishes, all things are possible. There is nothing like a Pisces to bring the situation around to what may work for everyone, and to do that in the most gracious and previously unrecognized way. Creative solutions to complex problems come when we all pitch in and dig deeper in the collective soul to lighten our path. The truth will prevail, but it is not without some messes becoming larger, some conflicts taking longer, and those previously uninvolved beginning to be heard.

To complement all this water energy are the planets and asteroids in earth: Venus, Pallas-Athena and Juno. Again, personal and international difficulties exposed and intensified by the influence of the outer planets are cooled and re-grounded by the elements of water and earth, which work amazingly well when chaos and conflict seem to prevail. That's why taking hot, soaky baths in the privacy of your own space or hugging a huge pine tree in the forest work so well. Writing in your journal, sketching in pencil or paint or making a collage about how you feel is good therapy to relive tension and stress in these circumstances. Playing instead of obsessing also works, and you can invent new ways to release pent-up anger through exercise, meditation or prayer and allow your fears and worries to subside. Coming to peace with the ugliness around you, even if you are the cause and not the solution is the challenge for us all right now. There is always room in your awareness to see how you are contributing negative vibes, disgust, criticism, an it's-not-my-problem or they're-doing-it-again attitude which precisely adds to the difficulty of coming to the creative answers we so need. Engage your nurturing mind, extend your amazing kindness in action, think compassionately and behave in larger ways to bring your world and that of all others to a higher loving and spiritual place. Settle for nothing less!!

When Jupiter reactivates Pluto strongly and favorably again this summer, when both are in earth signs, sigh deeply, release what has just happened or is still transforming, and begin to see a brighter and more abundant future in all ways, for every living being and creature with whom you are so blessed to navigate this lifetime.

How Jupiter, Pluto and all the other planets affect you personally now is seen in your own personal chart, so call and set up an appointment for a reading with me at 303-692-9299.

Use the Knight of Cups in the Tarot as a focus for meditation. This knight can bring peace to the emotional intensity of this time.

Blessings, Tom

Transitioning Full Moons at 29 Degrees - Jan.19, 2011

Tomorrow's 29' Cancer full moon (2:22 PM mst) is the 4th in a series which began last October with a 29' Aries full moon; this heralds the beginning of the last months of releasing the old and outdated, what's done, or what needs a new approach or perspective, or what needs to be forgiven and released. This letting go is essential in order to graduate to the next level of learning and consciousness, which for these two moons concerns one's higher self, spiritual practices and higher learning, or collectively what has been lurking in the unconscious. Whatever has restricted, confined or trapped us in any way needs to go.

For November's full moon at 29' Taurus, business, financial, societal or outer consciousness ways of being, outmoded and unfair practices, methods, or otherwise stuck issues had to be released. This allowed all of us to begin the recovery back to abundance, prosperity, and in our consciousness, the merging of our feminine and masculine sides. In this way we can transform ourselves with this newer and more solid foundation so we can gain a settled sense of psychological health, and emotional and spiritual well-being. Many of us have experienced such shifts in energy both in our inner being and with outside influences so that we have not been clear, focused or steady with anything that we are trying to initiate, adjust or accomplish. It seems as if the other shoe has not dropped, and our old ones no longer fit.

And concerning last December's full moon and solar eclipse, our letting go and forgiving seemed to focus on friendships, groups, our dreams and wishes, and humanitarian or ecological concerns. We may have freed up our intuition to serve our needs more effectively or had insights into what could be a more glorious, positive and fruitful future. Some of these veils of mental cloudiness and general dis-ease at where we seem to be going needed to be acknowledged, forgiven and released. When our glass is full, even with confusion and doubts, we still need to dump them and move on to new places.

Back to the 29' Cancer full moon which involves Uranus, Jupiter, the asteroids Juno and Vesta; this will yield more direct and challenging influences and activities concerning your loved ones, home-life and relatives in general, as well as your spiritual learning and practices or possibly things hidden in your unconscious, which until now were hidden or difficult to give up. Increasing your physical activities in the form of exercise, yoga or additional meditation will work to ease these current planetary energies. Writing in your journal or doing art are creative ways to process how you have been feeling or what you would not want to tell another if they they have been difficult or annoying. Rant in your journal or in your drawings, and come to a higher place in understanding yourself and forgiving those who come as your challenges. Watch what you project now onto anyone or any animal who may be troubling, and instead see how what they are doing may really be something you do as well. What is important now is to challenge yourself and not others, make progress on those hard personal lessons which will allow your relationships to prosper and grow in love, understanding and compassion. These are the times in relationships when karmic ties can be processed, released and forgiven or made more challenging and ingrained, and the choice is yours. Your spiritual family can be of greater assistance to you now in not only helping you to figure out what has been bugging you but in providing you with behavioral alternatives or unexpected opportunities in understanding yourself now.

And remember February's Leo full moon completes the cycle of these five 29 degree moons, all of which offer you advantages and opportunities to turn the corner in self-understanding by release all that feels stuck in whatever is happening in your life. Do take this time to quietly examine where you are and where you'd like to go in order to more fully realize who you are. Your loved ones and friends will see how you've changed and grown.

Use the influence of the Six of Pentacles, which helps you to claim the fruits of your labors. This is the card of giving and receiving, as well as guarding against being bought off by someone who may not have your best interests at heart.

Blessings, Tom

Tom's Astrology Overview for Amazing 2011

Wow, our holidays were far different than we ever could have imaged ... so my apologies for my lack of blogging. Now ...

Are you ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime, willing to release whatever you have been feeling that sticks, saddens, scares, overwhelms or mystifies you? This new year has the potential to lift you into higher and higher realms, send you deeper and deeper into your consciousness in all ways, and allow you to grow and expand your spirituality, life's purpose and being-ness.

Showcasing six eclipses, three outer planets changing signs, and countless other amazing astrological events, 2011 will teach and challenge us in higher and more inspiring ways. These planetary influences provide numerous opportunities to look at ourselves, strive for the inner changes we've always wanted to make, and avail ourselves of the wisdom in the stars which will produce results in our outer world, making 2011 a year to value and inspire. This hasn't been the case over the last three or more years when being down and discouraged, directionally-challenged, and feeling weird, scared or bewildered was the norm.

The five outer planets, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter bring us our greatest lessons and give us the opportunity to grow exponentially when they interact both creatively and adversely, and move into new signs as all of them have in the last three years. So that's why we have experienced confusing, often turbulent and strangely challenging emotions which have lead us to question even our basic psychological and spiritual needs. Some of us have faced our worst fears, be they financial, familial, personal or global. Sadness, disappointments, unexpected events have often brought us to our knees questioning our most fundamental beliefs, and making us feel as if we have lost our way.

If you analyze all that's happened with the planets, asteroids or even with the fixed stars, it seems mind-boggling and you tend to cycle back down once again. Throughout 2011 in these pages, I intend to help you understand how to use these current astrological events in order to calm your fears and allow you to return to a more peaceful and fulfilling state of being. Now back to what's going on astrologically so far for 2011.

Last Tuesday we witnessed the first of six eclipses; this was a solar eclipse in Capricorn (2:02 am mst). Eclipses generally offer opportunities to release anything old, worn-out, confusing or misunderstood, as well as to initiate a beginning of whatever needs to be the next new thing in your life. Because of the influence of Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter, Pluto and Pallas Athena affecting this Sun-Moon joining, anything that has affected our outer life and environment negatively can be released, forgiven or left behind. Hence all the current earth and weather anomalies; excessive flooding and mudslides, tornadoes or extreme weather in places where it normally doesn't happen. Visualize lack of discipline in any area, your misunderstandings with anyone, your states of acting out of character, even your control issues lifting away from you and evaporating into thin air. Don't look back!

Due to this eclipse, you may start a new exercise routine, deepen your spiritual practice, be able to focus and concentrate better than you have in months, have a greater belief in yourself in many areas, accept the challenge to grow your relationship with your loved one, and have a general feeling that there is more available lightness in the air and in your being. You may adjust, expand or change other relationships at work, home or in the community. Unexpected events and circumstances may arise but your response to them will be clearer, lighter and easier to make. This eclipse's energies are dominant for the next four to five months.

Both January and February's full moons at 29 degrees call us to complete what we can in any area in order to allow new cycles, energies and influences to raise and expand our visions, our opportunities, potential and consciousness in our loving and nurturing natures, in our creativity and in our amazing spirits. More on this in my next blog.

Use the influence of the World XXI card of the tarot to assist you in all that is different and inspiring in the beginning of 2011. The World will inspire us in closing out and leaving behind what no longer serves, as well as expanding our world view to encompass all beings. We really are all one and now's the time to start acting like it. Make ceremonies of releasing to help make letting go a reality

Blessings, Tom

Mercury conjunct Mars until Dec. 18,2010

Mercury joins Mars in Sagittarius beginning today, lasting until December 18th. The most powerful time will be on November 20th, when they are in exact aspect. Communication and getting things done dominate your time; ideas, words and insights flourish. Your higher self is stimulated philosophically and spiritually, which can promote amazing leaps in your consciousness, since the new moon in Scorpio on November 5th set the stage for growth and advancement. Letters, emails and other written or oral communications need extra focus on expressing clearly what you want to say or get accomplished. Aggressive thoughts, word choices, or hasty, ill-thought out changes in your direction can lead to regret over ever having brought up these concerns, so let caution and kindness be your guide during these times, and you will achieve greater and more meaningful progress.

Mercury retrogrades in Capricorn on the December 10th until the 29th, influencing Mars from December 10th through the 18th. Use additional care, clarity and focus if you readjust,
what you set in motion earlier in order to maximize your success. Wait until after December 29th to begin new projects or to make large purchases.

All the outer planets will have their effects on this conjunction of Mercury and Mars. which brings a trans-personal level of influence to everyone. Pluto's influences from November 29th through December 18th will bring to the fore transformation and power issues in business, financial affairs or possibly your personal life. Circumstances may become better or worse depending on where Pluto's transiting in your personal astrological chart. Neptune's effects on Mercury from November 21st through December 4th, and on Mars from November 22nd through December 12th cause confusion, delays or changes of direction in your thinking and your ability to complete your projects. Be watchful of your time and commitments, and don't overextend yourself. Uranus's influence from November 22nd through December 4th, with Mercury, and through December 12th with Mars brings the unexpected; rethink your beliefs and take a wait-and-see approach to any long term projects or personal commitments.

On the other hand, Saturn will lend structure, discipline, and personnel changes to your business or personal life from November 12th through the 23rd, so stay flexible and remain mindful of the changes and constraints which may be called for now. Jupiter, associated with optimism and expansion, as well as philosophy and spirituality, will have a less than its usual fortunate affects on completing your projects or dealing with your personal affairs; however, this influence lasts only from November 22nd through December 1st with Mercury and through December 10th with Mars.

The asteroids Pallas Athena and Chiron are also players during this time. Pallas Athena, the asteroid of wisdom, intuition and healing, lends her love and strength to your communication skills and aids in finding creative solutions to your projects from November 10th through December 12th. Follow her guidance and find yourself wiser, happier and more satisfied in all that you have accomplished. Chiron, the asteroid of the wounded healer and the quest for truth, brings spiritual clarity and higher thinking to Mercury's influence from November 22nd through December 4th, and Mars' influence from November 23rd through December 11th, helping you to integrate your spiritual practices into whatever you are doing. Chiron focuses on keeping healing and understanding as your primary concerns in communication or negotiation with others, and offers you the power to break through to new common ground. Sudden insights may facilitate the completion of projects which seemed difficult to accomplish earlier.

Because the holidays can trigger unexpected issues, sensitive communications, contracts, and other large life changes are better left alone until these planetary influences subside after the 18th of December. Try to remain understanding of other people's points of view, fears and hopes, and encourage your inner pilot to take the high road in whatever situation you find yourself, specifically when Mercury and Mars are exact on November 20th .

The tarot's the King of Cups works with this energy in offering an open window to healing and releasing old hurts during this time. Also, heed the advice of older, more sensitive mentors who may have a different perspective which could help you along your path.
